The Lüderitz Blue School is registered with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture of the Republic of Namibia, registered 7720. Admission is open to all learners, irrespective of race, colour, ethnic origin or creed. We take safeguarding very seriously and all staff will be subject to vigourous checks.

Lily Raubenheimer
Board Member
Lily is an experienced, passionate and tender-hearted teacher. She loves children and cares deeply about their development and welfare, although is also strict. She is a real ‘humanitarian’ – always willing to help those in need, children and elderly. She is an active member and former President of the Lüderitz Rotary Club.
Viviane Kinyaga
Board Member
A qualified marine biologist & water management specialist, Viviane has spent 20 years advising governments, NGO’s, the UN and inter-governmental bodies. Most recently, she has worked with the Benguela Current Convention and the Orange-Senqu River Commission. She adores the natural world, its quiet wonder – and empowering people.
Pieter Pretorius
Board Member
Pieter is a nature lover and entrepreneur. Born in Namibia, he grew up with a love of adventure and the wild spaces of Africa. He has worked across Namibia and South Africa, as a guide, a photographer and a stint live broadcasting and presenting WildEarth from a game farm in South Africa. He now runs Mola Mola Safaris, a high-end tourist adventure company and loves sharing wild places with people and seeing the influence it can have. He believes strongly that the best way to experience nature is with children and to learn from them.
Maria Mbudhi
Board Member
Maria has in-depth knowledge of the Namibian Oil and Gas environment, having worked with various international oil Companies and local organisations since 2012. She currently holds parallel managerial positions in Rhino Resources (a US company) and Alpha Petroleum Ltd. (founder, downstream supplier of lubricants) and recently joined the Executive Committee of the National Petroleum Operator’s Association (NAMPOA) - the first woman to hold this role. Maria is a parent at the Lüderitz Blue School and has a deep commitment to education and the life-changing opportunities that it affords.
Lucy Hooft
Co-Founder & Chair of the Board
Lucy used to work for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) with postings in Tbilisi, Beijing and Freetown. She then worked for Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan as her Global Outreach Manager coordinating all Her Majesty's international engagements and campaigns as an education advocate. Lucy is a lover of storytelling and makes films for Kelp Blue as well writing a series of spy novels. She is a firm believer that the problems of tomorrow will be solved by the education of today.
Marnie Allen
Head of Primary (Pastoral) and Blue School Lead
Marnie was born and raised in the UK, where she completed her BA and further teacher training. Before moving to Lüderitz, she lived across Germany for 8 years. She has worked in government, private and international schools in the UK, Germany and Namibia. She has a strong interest in pastoral care and education development, and is passionate about holistic and creative education. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring, travelling and learning.
Suzan Hambelela Ndjaleka
Regional Councillor for !Nami #Nus Constituency
Suzan is the Regional Councillor and former Mayor of Lüderitz. She has a keen interest in community development, especially skills development. She previously served as a centre manager at two local training institutions – Namfi and Cosdec.
Kauna Samuehl
Board Member
Kauna studied commerce and worked for eleven years as an accountant in Parliament. She is now a proud Lüderitz resident and has brought up her two children here. She is studying towards a degree in Secondary Education at UNAM.
